UABC’s Mission


Our main goal is to fully educate citizens to become skilled local, national, transborder and international professionals. Our graduates are free, discerning, creative, supportive, enterprising, with a global vision, aware of their role in sustainable global development, and capable of transforming their environment responsibly; they are ethically committed. The university also strives to stimulate, generate, apply, propagate and transfer knowledge meant to contribute to sustainable development, the advancement of science, technology, the humanities, art and innovation, as well as to increase the level of human development in Baja California’s and the country’s society.




UABC’s Vision

In 2025 the Autonomous University of Baja California shall be widely recognized as a socially responsible academic institution that opportunely and pertinently contributes with the highest quality standards to increase the level of human development in Baja California’s and the country’s society. It shall also be renowned as one of Mexico’s top five institutions of higher learning, with a place among the top 50 universities in Latin America thanks to its educational system, to the development, innovative application and transfer of knowledge, and to the advancement of science, culture and the arts.

1. Quality and relevance of the education on educational programs

To ensure the quality of the educational offer in undergraduate and postgraduate courses according to the demands of the public, private and social sectors, as well as the university standards.

2. Formative process

To strengthen the formative process of the students and their academic trajectories from the beginning to the completion of their studies in order to form (train) professionals that favourably contribute to the solution of problems in their area of studies.

3. Research, technological development and Innovation

To generate, apply and propagate knowledge in the different disciplinary fields that contribute to the regional, national and international development.

4. Extension and Liaison

To contribute to the regional and national development by means of strengthening the relations between the university and the public, private and social sectors through the propagation of knowledge in science, humanities and technology as well as culture, arts and sports

5. Internationalization

To place the university in the international context deriving from the development and consolidation of their substantive functions.

6. Academic Development

To consolidate the university faculty by the acknowledgment of their academic trajectories and teaching practice

7. Digital Culture

To incorporate digital culture in the performance of the university substantive functions and management by collaboration and the use of digital technologies.

8. Communication and university identity

To inform the university community and society in general about the activities and contributions that the university makes for the development of the state and country as well as the actions taken to preserve the university identity.

To strengthen the physical and technological infrastructure, as well as the equipment and security to guarantee the fulfilment of the university substantive functions and management.

10. Administration and Organisation

To impulse an efficient management that guarantees the fulfilment of the university substantive functions.

11. Care for the environment

To promote respect and care for the environment from the perspective of sustainable development.

12. Governance, transparency and accountability

To promote the necessary internal and external relations for the conduction and development of the university substantive functions in a mindset of respect and collaboration, keeping with the transparency principles and accountability.
